Jennifer Schwartz Gallery is a fine art photography gallery in Atlanta, Georgia promoting talented, original and emerging photographers as well as established contemporary photographers.

About the Juror: David Bram is the editor, founder, and curator of Fraction Magazine, an online venue dedicated to fine art, contemporary photography. Fraction Magazine brings together diverse bodies of work by established and emerging artists from around the globe. Fraction Magazine was founded in 2008and has shown portfolios from more than 200 photographers.

Theme: Lust

Lust is a passionate or overwhelming desire. People lust for power, money, objects. You can have a lust for life or an intense and eager enthusiasm. And of course, there is sexual lust.

As an artist, what do you lust for? What moves you to create? What does lust look like?

A powerful image goes beyond the aesthetics of the subject matter and creates an emotional response in the viewer. A strong and consistent emotional narrative in a body of work binds the imagery together in a deeper way than content alone.

This theme gives you the opportunity to elicit a powerful feeling in the viewer.

Show me lust. Make me feel a passionate and overwhelming desire for something, anything. Make me care about what you have to say and how you say it.

Submissions: You may enter up to five images. Please email your submissions to submissions@jenniferschwartzgallery.com. In the email body, please include your name and contact information. Also include a numbered title list, date, and finished print size for each attachment you send. Attach the jpegs of your images to the email (72dpi, 700 pixels on the long side). Zip files are preferred. Title your images to include your last name and image number (Schwartz1, Schwartz2, Schwartz3, etc.)

Submission deadline: Monday, January 16 by midnight, EST

Submission fee: $35 for 5 images. After your submission is received, you will be emailed a PayPal invoice for your submission fee. You may choose to mail a check to the gallery if you do not wish to pay online.

Notification: Entrants will be notified by February 1 via email. Accepted work should be framed according to specific guidelines provided at time of notification and delivered to the gallery by March 9. Make certain your finished print is of exceptionally high quality and represents well the image that was emailed to us. Any finished/framed work not meeting the framing or print quality guidelines will be turned away at the discretion of the gallery owner.

Exhbition dates: March 23 to May 12

Winners: In addition to the photographers whose work is selected for the exhibition, there will be three grand prize winners. The Fraction Winner will have his or her work featured in an upcoming issue of Fraction Magazine. The Gallery Winner will have an additional exhibition opportunity at Jennifer Schwartz Gallery. And The Ten Winner will be invited to participate in The Ten (www.thetenphoto.com).

Sales: All work in this exhibition will be for sale. Guidelines for pricing will be discussed with those selected for participation. Jennifer Schwartz Gallery will retain 50% of sales, and 50% will go to the photographer.

For this exhibition, juror Russell Joslin will select up to 30 images for display in the main gallery and up to an additional 40 images to be included in the online gallery. All images will be reproduced in an exhibition catalogue available for purchase. A Juror's Choice and Director's Choice award will also be announced.

All photographic media are encouraged.

About the Juror:

Russell Joslin has worked primarily in photography beginning in the early 90's, and has exhibited his work in solo and group shows since then. In addition to being a photographer, he is the Editor and Publisher of SHOTS Magazine, an independent, reader-supported quarterly journal of fine art photography that reaches an international audience. We accept only digital submissions. All digital files should be provided as:

Acceptance Notification:

Sales:

Description

In 2012/2013, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain will host the next edition of project room @ aquarium, an artist-in-residency programme based in the so-called “Aquarium”, a 175 sqm steel and glass pavilion. This international residency programme, while welcoming proposals taking full advantage of the place’s very specific architecture, is encouraging applications aiming to stimulate exchange and debate in relation with the local context and socio-cultural issues in Luxembourg. project room @ aquarium forms an integral part of the Casino Luxembourg’s agenda of exhibitions and events. Furthermore to the work that the participants are asked to realise during their stay in Luxembourg, they are expected to participate in the activities of Casino Luxembourg on specific occasions to be defined with the Casino team. Their project will be exhibited over a period of two months at the end of the residency and documented in a publication.

Eligibility

The residency is open to all individuals or artists collectives wishing to develop their practice in a professional context by creating new work. Applicants are free to choose their means of artistic expression but must give documented proof of at least a three-year work and exhibition practice. Applicants should not be older than 40 years. In order to facilitate communication with the local scene, participants should be fluent in either English, French or German. All applicants must hold a valid visa for the duration of the residency.

Selection procedure

A jury of experts will select the candidates for the two residencies to be held in 2012/2013 based on the quality of their work and the applicants’ potential to use the residency to maximum benefit. The selected candidates will be informed of the jury results via email by early March 2012.

The 2012/2013 jury members are:

Nora Mayr, International Studio Programme, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (DE);
Kevin Muhlen, artistic director, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain;
Vanessa Ohlraun, Dean of the Academy of Fine Art, Oslo (N);
Christine Walentiny, project coordinator, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain (LU).

Budget

Casino Luxembourg will provide financial and technical support and will be in charge of implementing the artist’s project to a maximum cost of EUR 10,000. Participants will be accommodated in a centrally located, self-sufficient flat in Luxembourg city. Casino Luxembourg will take over the artist’s travel costs to and from Luxembourg and will provide a bulk sum of EUR 2,000 toward general expenses, to be paid in four instalments, the first of which will be made upon arrival. At the end of the residency, participants will receive an artist fee of EUR 1,500.

A selection of 3 finalized projects/works of art that you briefly explain (please use a maximum of 200 words and a maximum of 3 images per project). (Big media files can also be sent via Dropbox, WeTransfer, YouSendIt, etc.) (not more than 3 films in total will be considered!)

5) Letter of intent (350 words maximum)
Including a brief description of your motivation and of what you will be working on contentwise during your residency in Luxembourg. No final project for the space is required at this stage, but an outline of your intentions has to be clearly stated in your letter.

PAC Gallery invites submissions for a mural to be installed on the gallery’s exterior March 9-May 27, 2012. The mural space allows artists the opportunity to showcase their work in a public setting. The space is 5 feet tall and 10 feet wide (designs must utilize the majority of this space). All mediums will be considered. Applicants are asked to submit images of their current bodies of work and the projected proposal for the mural (this could be a drawing or mockup of your intention for the space or a written description).

The winning artist will receive a $300 stipend (to be used for materials, installation costs, or travel expenses), gallery representation with the PAC gallery and the option for a solo exhibition to run in conjunction with the mural, March 9-May 27, 2012. Two finalists will be selected for a two-man show in the 2013 lineup.

Eligibility: Open to all artists (professionals, students, amateurs).

Medium: Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts genre and media.

Color—in all its glory—is the theme of this exhibit. Bring on those bright, dazzling hues, or those soft, muted pastels. Explore deep, mysterious shades, or subtle, sophisticated tones. Does your palette include earth tones…or psychedelic blinders? Have you created a fuchsia-and-saffron fractal or a digital painting in chartreuse and cherry-blossom pink? Or, have you photographed the subtle range of blues and greens in an ocean vista? If color is an integral aspect of your art or photography, we want to see your images!
Eligibility
All visual artists and photographers worldwide—whether professional, nonprofessional, or student—are eligible to submit their digital artwork for this exhibit. Entrants under age 18 may enter only if a parent or a guardian enters on their behalf. Every discipline, genre, style, and school of thought within digital art and photography is welcome.

Jurors will review submissions and will choose, for presentation online, all images they find meritorious. These selected works will appear in solo online galleries, each devoted to only one artist or photographer. These solo galleries will display work distinguished by the jurying process and thus will provide artists and photographers a showcase where art curators, patrons, and collectors can view works that have already been “vetted” by art experts.

Online exhibits begin as a 2-1/2-month “Current Exhibit” and are later archived for an additional six months, during which time all selected images remain in the solo artist galleries, available for viewing and, if the artist or photographer desires, for sale. (Artists and photographers may choose not to offer their images for sale online.)

Plans are already being made to create permanent solo galleries that will showcase all of an artist’s or a photographer’s juried selections from previous Digital Arts: California exhibits. We expect that these permanent galleries will become an important source of “vetted” artwork for art curators, collectors, and patrons.

Physical Exhibits
Works that have been awarded a Gold Stellar Art Award will be eligible for exhibition in a physical gallery setting. Such exhibits will be held periodically and will combine these award winners from various Digital Arts: California online exhibits. How often such physical exhibits are held will depend on the volume of entries to our online exhibits as well as other factors.

Jurors
Selection of the finalists that will appear online in solo artist/photographer galleries will be made by Virginia Christensen and Glen Christensen. Virginia has enjoyed a long career as an editor and a publisher of photography and art books, and is, herself, an accomplished photographer. Glen has had a distinguished career as Art Director at major record companies in both New York City and Hollywood. Among his professional accolades have been two Grammy nominations for Best Album Package. To learn more about the backgrounds of Virginia and Glen, see the “About” section of this website.
Winners of the Gold Stellar Art Awards and the Stellar Art Awards will be chosen by Virginia, Glen, and a distinguished guest juror.
Entry Fees
Entry fees are $25 for the first 5 (or fewer) images, and $4 for each additional image. You may pay for up to 14 images using the PayPal “Pay Now” button. If you wish to pay for more than 14 images using PayPal, please contact us via the Contact page of this website for payment instructions.
When using PayPal via the “Pay Now” button below, please type the following into the space below the word “Descriptions” on the PayPal order screen: the exhibit title, your first initial, and your last name. This will enable us to match your payment to your entries.
Payments originating outside the United States must be made via PayPal in U.S. Dollars. Use your own PayPal account, or in some countries, you may use certain credit cards. Click the “Pay Now” button to make payment.

Digital Files
Submit jpg files that are 72 dpi, a maximum of 2 MB, and a maximum of about 1,200 pixels on the longest side.

Attach each jpg file to an email (only one jpg file per email, please) with corresponding caption and contact information (see below for required caption and contact information). Use the following email address:

FS (For Sate) or NFS (Not For Sale). If you are offering your work for sale, you must be prepared to deal directly with the customer, and you, yourself, must see to “fulfilling” the order and collecting payment. We at Digital Arts: California will automatically send your email address to any website viewer who expresses an interest in purchasing a work of yours, but beyond that, we will have no further involvement in the transaction. Cropping of Work on Website
Our website employs automatic cropping of some images on some web pages. Enlarged images appearing in solo artist galleries are never cropped and always appear as submitted. By entering works in any exhibit by Digital Arts: California, artists and photographers agree to allow automatic cropping of any or all of their images, on any web page (excluding the artist’s or photographer’s solo online gallery).
Previously Submitted Work
You are free to re-submit any images to any Digital Arts: California exhibit, except for images that have been awarded a Gold Stellar Art Award or a Stellar Art Award in a previous Digital Arts: California exhibit.
Publicity
If your work appears in the online exhibit, we will be happy to notify several publications or media outlets of your accomplishment. Just provide us with the name and email address of the publication or media outlet you wish us to notify (and, if possible, include an editor’s name or an art reviewer’s name). You might, for instance, want us to notify a local newspaper in your community or region or perhaps the newsletter of an arts or photography organization you belong to. We will include your email address when we email notifications.
Juror’s Decisions
By submitting a work to a Digital Arts: California exhibit, entrants represent that they understand and accept that all decisions (1) are solely up to the juror(s), (2) are final, and (3) may be made for any reason, including a juror’s opinion that a work is in objectionable taste.
Rights to Works, Representations, and Indemnification
By submitting works to a Digital Arts: California exhibit, entrants represent that they own or legally control all rights to such works, that such works do not violate rights of any person or business, and that such works are in no way illegal. By submitting works, entrants agree to hold harmless and indemnify Digital Arts: California and its parent company, Art and Design Initiative, for any damages it sustains related to those works.
Works Offered for Sale Online
Every work that appears online in a Digital Arts: California gallery is identified as being FS (For Sale) or NFS (Not For Sale). As a courtesy, we automatically pass along the email address of artists and photographers to prospective customers of their work. After doing this, Digital Arts: California has no further involvement in any sales-related activities. Digital Arts: California will offer no advice or opinion related to the sale of work, and will not be responsible in any way for any outcome between buyer and artist/photographer, or for any obligations of the buyer or artist/photographer, related to the sale of the work. wenty-four winners will be selected for Spotlight Awards and will have their work published in multi-page articles in B&W + COLOR, spread across four issues published during 2012. In addition, 15 entries will be selected for Excellence Awards, and 60 more will be selected for Merit Awards (this number may vary slightly). These winners will be featured in our Portfolio Contest Special Issue, to be published in the summer of 2012. Entry Bonus: All portfolios entered will be included in the galleries on our redesigned web site. Each of your photos will have a direct link to your web site. Currently we have more than 25,000 photos from past contests in our searchable galleries with increasing traffic counts. This extra exposure makes the entry fees a good investment for your future.
A portfolio unit consists of no less than 8 and no more than 12 images. The images may represent the high point of a long career, a specific subject, or a special thematic treatment. More than one portfolio unit may be entered (additional fee required). Many of the 700 photographers spotlighted in B&W so far have experienced welcome jolts to their sales as a result of the exposure. So take the chance of having your work seen by more than 40,000 viewers world-wide (B&W is sold in 60 countries)!

Make a selection of favorite images from your photographic body of work and enter one or more portfolio units in this year’s contest.
ELIGIBILITY: All photographers are eligible except employees and contract workers of Ross Periodicals and those previously featured in a Spotlight in B&W.
IMAGE CAPTURE: Images may be captured using film or digital. Only CD/DVDs will be accepted for entry. No prints or slides!
PORTFOLIOS: A portfolio unit consists of no fewer than 8 images and no more than 12 images. There is no limitation on the number of portfolio units that may be entered. Make separate folders for each portfolio, but please use as few CD/DVDs as possible for your entry.
PREPARING YOUR CD/DVD:
- Write your complete name, phone number and email address on the CD/DVD itself.
- Save images at 300 ppi (lower resolution files cannot be used), 8 bits, in grayscale, as jpeg files only.
- The size of the scans, whether vertical or horizontal in orientation, MUST be 7 inches wide.
- Please name each digital image file on your CD/DVD exactly as shown below:
  - Title of image, Location, Year of capture.

Right Here Over There is an exhibition exploring the physical, mental, and metaphoric landscapes of place and their indelible link to memory. Throughout our lives we are surrounded by a world punctuated by varying spaces, climates, geographies, buildings, and cultures. Accumulating in layers over time, pieces of our physical world provide visual reference points for how we understand one another and ourselves. Themes including (but not limited to) the following may be integrated into the final exhibition: mapping, topography, architecture, nature, distance, home, exile, travel, and personal/social/political geographies.

Artists interested in submitting work for consideration are encouraged to creatively interpret the theme. Works in all media are eligible.

Eligibility and Media

All artists, age 18 and older, are eligible to enter Right Here Over There. All media and styles will be considered. No reproductions will be accepted. All works must have been completed since 2006 and not previously shown in any LAL gallery.

Curator/Juror

Becky Alley, LAL’s Exhibitions & Programs Director, will select all artwork for exhibition. Alley earned a BFA in studio art from Washington University, and an MFA in studio art from the University of Kansas. Before joining the LAL staff in January 2010, Alley was the Director of University Galleries at Murray State University. She has organized over 100 shows and has curated several major projects including Think Tank, an international show of political art, Creatures Great and Small, a touring exhibition of contemporary art featuring animals, and Love and Things Like Love, an LAL project.

Entry Fee and Procedure

There is no entry fee for this exhibition. January 31st is the postmark deadline. Review will be by digital images or videos only (no slides).

Installation Art Criteria

Exhibition

The selected works will hang in LAL’s Loudoun House Gallery from March 23 – May 13, 2012. The opening reception will be held at the Loudoun House Gallery on Friday, March 23rd, 6-9pm.

Absolutely no early removal of artwork is allowed for any reason.

Sales
Not all works need to be for sale, but LAL retains a 30% commission on the retail price of all works sold in the gallery. The artist must determine retail price, which is sent with the application materials.

Insurance and Liability

Work will be insured while on LAL premises to the limits of the insurance carrier’s contractual obligations. The LAL will not be responsible for insurance of work in transit or work that is not claimed by last date for pick up. On-site insurance value will be computed as 70% of the retail price, but does not guarantee that the insurer will agree with the value assigned by the artist.

Shipping

The artist is responsible for all costs related to shipping and insurance of artwork while in transit to and from LAL. Artwork should be shipped in a substantial, reusable container. LAL will not be responsible for damage due to incorrect packing or an insufficient container.

Conditions

An entry to this exhibition constitutes full agreement on the part of the artist to all conditions outlined in this prospectus, and guarantees that work entered will be available for exhibition. Accepted work that is not delivered or is withdrawn may prevent the artist from future eligibility in LAL exhibitions.
All entries must have been conceived and created by the artist submitting the work.
Accepted artists are required to sign the LAL contract for Exhibition & Sale of Artwork that will be sent upon acceptance to the exhibition.
The LAL Exhibitions and Programs Director has final authority to define what constitutes an acceptable entry.
The LAL reserves the right to eliminate (upon receipt) any entry that:

Differs from the submitted images
Is presented in a substandard way

Call for Exhibition Proposals: LAL galleries

LAL welcomes proposals for two of its galleries: LAL @ Loudoun House and LAL Project Space. Both artists and curators are encouraged to submit proposals. Exhibitions are scheduled on a six to eight week rotation. All media will be considered, including installation and new media work. Work may be paired with that of one or more artists in a group exhibition. The proposing artist and/or curator in consultation with the Exhibitions and Programs Director of the LAL will determine the final number of objects.

Special note for Curator:
Curators should expect to be the primary coordinator for the accepted exhibition. Standard curatorial responsibilities include: handling all arrangements with artists; overseeing the timely installation of the exhibition; executing any agreed upon public programs or presentations during the exhibition run, and providing necessary information to the staff for development of promotional materials.
Eligibility:
Proposals from artists or curators from Kentucky are encouraged. Application materials will not be returned.

Gallery Missions and Spec.’s
LAL @ the Loudoun House: The mission is to challenge and stimulate the public through presentation of excellence in art. Exhibits will include artists from across the country (and beyond) that represent the best of the theme or genre intended by the exhibit.
The Loudoun House is an 1850’s Gothic Revival Mansion located in Castlewood Park in Lexington, KY. There are six gallery rooms, each made of concrete walls overlaid with plaster; all ceilings are 12’.

LAL Project Space: The mission is to exhibit installation and new media work that is engaging, challenging, and experimental in both concept and execution.
The Project Space, located on the first floor of the historic Loudoun House, is 11.5’ x 9.75’ with plaster walls that are painted white, and a wooden floor. There is one wall with two windows and on the opposite wall a doorway (46”x81”). The ceiling is 12’ high. The lights are fluorescent, but alternative lighting may be used (with the fluorescents turned off). There are a few electrical outlets spaced around the room.

Show Theme: All photographers, from all regions and all styles and processes are encouraged to enter. From avant-garde to f64 images, the Environmental Photography Exhibition hopes to represent the shared vision of world communities that are concerned about environmental issues. What the photographs being displayed have in common is their ability to inform, motivate, and move their viewers.

In order to submit to the Environmental Photography Exhibit, entrants agree to the following:

Submitting an entry is not an automatic right to be in the show. This is a juried show and the selection of entries to be included in the Environmental Photography Exhibit shall be the sole decision of the juror(s).

Cost for entry is $30 for 3 or less images and an addition $10 per image over 3. There are no refunds.

All entries shall be juried via a low-resolution digital upload; JPG images (maximum 1280 pixels in either dimension) less than 1MB with sRGB embedded color space. Pictures only, no watermarking, digital mattes, frames or borders. Also no names, copyright notices or text on the image itself that would obstruct viewing or influence judging.

Photos shall have been taken within 5 years of submission date.

Composite images that create a submission that would not be naturally possible at that location are not allowed. However stitching of several frames taken from the same location and date to create high-resolution image or one with high dynamic range is allowed. Minor alterations, removal of small insignificant objects, dodging and burning, as well as color and tonal enhancement with imaging software are also allowed.

Those with images selected for the show will be notified through email. Images need to be shipped within a timely manner and those not meeting the deadline or a minimum quality standard may not be hung at the discretion of the gallery staff. Return postage must accompany the original shipment or the submission will be considered abandoned. An abandoned submission will be donated to a nonprofit after the conclusion of the show if a return prepaid shipping label hasn’t been furnished.

No framing required. Framing for the show presentation will be the responsibility of The American Mountaineering Museum. Photographs need to be appropriately attached to a white museum quality board with a hinged bevel cut white 4-ply 100% rag over-matt. After acceptance to the show, more detailed instructions will be sent for shipping to and from the American Mountaineering Center’s Gallery in Golden, Colorado. Shipping expenses for prints and mats to and from are the responsibility of entrant.

Ownership and Rights

Submitter must be creator and sole copyright owner and copyright will remain with the submitter. Acceptance to exhibition constitutes agreement to allow photographs to be reproduced, published and/or exhibited for promotional purposes for the Environmental Photography Exhibition. All model and property releases need to be available upon request and the responsibility of entrant.

Nos résidences permettent à des photographes français ou étrangers de se consacrer à leurs recherches artistiques, de disposer de locaux et de matériel nécessaires à la production de photographies et d’expositions et enfin d’établir un échange privilégié avec le public local.

Il n’y a pas de date limite de dépôt de candidature, nous recevons régulièrement des projets et un jury se réunit tous les deux mois

Le parc naturel régional Scarpe - Escaut, la direction régionale des affaires culturelles du Nord- Pas-de-Calais en partenariat avec le conseil régional du Nord - Pas-de-Calais

Dans le cadre du programme de résidences-mission d’artistes à des fins d’éducation artistique et culturelle intitulé Artiste rencontre territoire (A.R.T.) est lancé un appel à candidatures en direction des artistes, de tous les domaines d’expression dont la recherche et la production, inscrites dans le champ de la création contemporaine, sont traversées par la question du territoire (histoire, identité, patrimoines...) et du paysage (géographique, humain, urbanistiques...).

Une résidence mission dans le parc naturel régional Scarpe - Escaut et plus précisément encore en Pays de Condé.
Une résidence-mission relevant du programme A.R.T est menée à des fins d’action culturelle. Elle est organisée en faveur des habitants d’un territoire. Ici, il s’agit des habitants des communes du Pays de Condé, le long de la frontière belge, dans le parc naturel régional Scarpe - Escaut. Le secteur du Pays de Condé rassemble notamment les communes de Vieux-Condé, Condé-sur-Escaut, Fresnes-sur-Escaut et Hergnies pour une population totale de près de 33 000 habitants (source : Insee, recensements de la population - état civil 2007). Si la résidence-mission s’applique à un territoire de proximité, elle aura vocation à être valorisée sur un territoire plus vaste, correspondant au parc Scarpe - Escaut. La résidence-mission repose sur une pleine disponibilité de l’artiste, durant 4 mois, ainsi que sur une diffusion à travers le territoire concerné d’une part représentative de son œuvre déjà accomplie et disponible. Cette diffusion, en lieux dédiés et/ou non dédiés, s’envisagera dès l’amont de la période de résidence et se poursuivra tout au long de sa durée. La résidence-mission ne se confond nullement avec une résidence de création puisqu’il n’y a ni enjeu de production ni commande d’œuvre. Pour l’artiste-résident(e) il s’agit, plus particulièrement, de s’engager dans une démarche d’action culturelle donnant à voir et à comprendre la recherche artistique qui l’anime ainsi que les processus de création qu’il ou elle met en œuvre (réflexion, expérimentation, réalisation). Cette mise en évidence s’appuie sur des formes d’intervention ou d’actions très variées se différenciant, toutefois, des traditionnels ateliers de pratique artistique régis par un tout autre type de cahier des charges et aux finalités différentes.

Ceci se traduit, concrètement, par une première phase, située au tout début du temps de résidence et s’articulant autour de multiples rencontres avec les divers professionnels en lien avec des groupes d’habitants du territoire (professionnels de la culture, responsables d’associations, animateurs, éducateurs, enseignants, chefs de projet politique de la ville...).

Ces professionnels sont tous invités à appréhender la recherche et la production artistique de l’artiste-résident(e). Ces rencontres peuvent revêtir des formes extrêmement variées afin d’éviter tout caractère répétitif. Les acteurs rencontrés sont également sollicités, en ces instances ou à leur issue, pour évoquer avec l’artiste-résident la manière, sensible et inventive, dont ils aimeraient, le cas échéant, faire percevoir sa présence ainsi que celle de son œuvre déjà accomplie aux publics qu’ils côtoient ou dont ils ont la responsabilité.

Par une seconde phase au cours de laquelle se construisent entre l’artiste-résident(e) et les divers professionnels déjà cités toutes sortes d’actions à mener en direction de leurs publics de référence. Ces actions que l’on appelle ici gestes artistiques sont conçues le plus souvent possible de manière à concerner un nombre significatif de personnes. Ces gestes artistiques sont également conçus en tenant particulièrement compte des contextes d’exercice des différents professionnels partenaires, de leurs différents degrés d’implication possibles ainsi que de ceux des habitants avec lesquels ils sont en lien.

Ces actions se menant dans les différents temps, ont pour objectif de permettre à un grand nombre d’habitants du territoire, d’acquérir une expérience originale et sensible de l’œuvre. Ces actions peuvent avoir lieu aussi bien au sein des associations, des centres sociaux, des centres de loisirs, des structures culturelles, des établissements scolaires que dans l’espace public ou tout autre site qui paraîtra approprié à l’artiste-résident(e) et à ses partenaires locaux. Ce sont au minimum 25 équipes de professionnels (25 entités professionnelles) qu’est appelé à rencontrer l’artiste, durant son séjour, en vue de l’élaboration de gestes artistiques. A propos du présent appel à projets

Il est donc recherché en vue de cette résidence-mission sur le territoire du Pays de Condé, au sein du parc naturel régional, un(e) artiste, français(e) ou étranger(e), de quelque domaine d’expression que ce soit, dont la recherche et la production, inscrites dans le champ de la création contemporaine, sont traversées par la question du territoire (histoire, identité...) et du paysage (géographique, humain, urbanistique...).

La résidence-mission ART s’inscrit dans le projet de territoire porté par le parc naturel régional Scarpe - Escaut et ses communes adhérentes, engagées solidairement dans un projet de développement durable. Ce dernier se fixe notamment pour objectifs d’enrichir la biodiversité, de protéger la ressource en eau, de sauvegarder les paysages, de valoriser ses patrimoines naturels, culturels et humains, de soutenir un développement économique compatible qui s’appuie sur ces richesses, de sensibiliser les publics et les acteurs vers une mobilisation en faveur du développement durable du territoire.

Plus spécifiquement, la résidence-mission interagit avec la dynamique « Mine d’Art en Sentier », menée en partenariat avec le conseil régional Nord – Pas-de-Calais (voir description en annexe). Cette action s’est donnée pour objectif d’interroger voire de transcender les liens existants entre les habitants, leur territoire, leur paysage, leurs patrimoines, leurs futurs à travers la création d’un parcours d’installations artistiques (relevant d’une thématique« Art et Nature ») et une programmation éducative, touristique et culturelle associée. Cette action prend la forme d’une résidence de création (du samedi 26 mai au samedi 9 juin 2012) et d’un travail de médiation sociale, éducative et culturelle qui a démarré en octobre 2011. La dynamique qu’elle incarne a vocation à s’inscrire dans le temps au service du développement culturel du territoire et de l’éveil artistique des habitants. L’artiste en résidence-mission sera donc amené à croiser et à rencontrer d’autres artistes présents sur le territoire. Il sera également amené à s’appuyer sur cette mobilisation, déjà effective, des habitants, des acteurs éducatifs, sociaux et culturels mise en œuvre dans le cadre de « Mine d’Art en Sentier » et à l’enrichir.

L’ambition, au travers de la résidence-mission d’artiste ART, est de contribuer à partager, croiser et faire évoluer les regards, les représentations et les connaissances des habitants sur leur territoire par une démarche artistique forte. L’artiste doit pouvoir, à travers son propre propos, questionner les habitants sur leur quotidien et la perception de leur territoire et mener des actions ou gestes artistiques permettant le partage avec le plus grand nombre.

L’artiste candidat(e) doit être en mesure de s’impliquer pleinement dans ce type particulier d’action que représente la résidence-mission. Il doit également être en mesure de fédérer autour de sa présence et d’une large sélection de ses œuvres l’ensemble de la communauté éducative, culturelle et associative du territoire.

L’artiste retenu(e) bénéficie d’une allocation de résidence d’un montant de 12 000 euros net financée par la direction régionale des affaires culturelles du Nord- Pas-de-Calais (DRAC) et par le parc naturel régional Scarpe-Escaut. L’artiste retenu(e) est appelé(e) à résider effectivement sur le territoire du Pays de Condé. Un lieu d’hébergement est mis à sa disposition gracieusement par le parc ou par un/des partenaires du parc.

L’artiste retenu(e) doit être autonome dans ses déplacements et disposer d’un permis de conduire valide et d’un véhicule personnel, ses frais de déplacement sur le territoire étant pris en charge sur la base d’un forfait. En revanche, les frais de déplacement de son lieu d’habitat personnel au territoire de mission ( à l’exception d’un seul aller-retour pris en charge) ainsi que les repas sont à sa charge.

Les partenaires locaux
La résidence-mission ART s’adresse aux habitants du territoire. Cette dimension territoriale nécessite un lien fort avec les structures et équipements qui sont implantés sur les communes du Pays de Condé ou qui l’irriguent. A titre d’exemples (non exhaustifs ) peuvent être cités : les bibliothèques ; les centres sociaux et CCAS ; les écoles ; le Musée Vivant des Enfants et l’association QuARTier à Fresnes sur Escaut ; le Boulon, pôle régional des arts de la rue à Vieux-Condé ; le Centre d’éducation à l’environnement d’Amaury et le club Léo Lagrange à Hergnies ; le club BMU du Pays de Condé.
C’est le parc naturel régional Scarpe - Escaut qui a accepté d’être, en lien étroit avec les partenaires à l’initiative de la résidence-mission, l’opérateur de l’ action. Il a, de ce fait, pour mission, partagée avec les responsables du monde associatif local :
d’accompagner l’artiste retenu afin de le guider dans sa découverte du territoire,
de veiller aux bonnes conditions de son séjour et de son travail, à la diffusion maximale de son œuvre
d’organiser avec le concours des communes ainsi qu’avec celui des structures culturelles, associatives et éducatives, avec également les établissements scolaires souhaitant s’associer à l’action la diffusion des œuvres (en amont et tout au long de la résidence),
de faciliter les rencontres avec les groupes de professionnels (1re phase de la résidence-mission),
d’aider à la réalisation des gestes artistiques (2e phase de la résidence-mission).
d’ assurer la gestion administrative de la résidence (paiement, gestion du budget ...)

Période et durée de la résidence
La période de résidence est prévue de début avril à fin juillet 2012. Il s’agit d’une résidence de quatre mois à raison de cinq à six jours de présence par semaine .

Le cadre juridique
Un contrat de résidence spécifiant les engagements respectifs du Parc naturel régional Scarpe-Escaut, structure opératrice, et de l’artiste accueilli(e) est signé avant le début de la résidence. Les conditions de diffusion des œuvres déjà existantes de l’artiste dans des lieux dédiés ou non, sont étudiées et également contractualisées avec la structure opératrice.

Procédure à suivre pour la candidature
Quelques rappels :
Peut donc faire acte de candidature tout(e) artiste professionnel(le ), français(e) ou étranger(e).
L’artiste candidat(e) doit avoir à son actif une production conséquente, et être en mesure de s’impliquer pleinement dans ce type particulier d’action que représente la résidence-mission.
L’artiste candidat(e) doit maîtriser l’usage oral de la langue française.
L’artiste candidat(e) doit détenir un permis de conduire valide et disposer d’un véhicule personnel.

un curriculum vitae,
un dossier artistique présentant notamment un ensemble de productions représentatives de la démarche de l’artiste- candidat(e)
une liste des œuvres/productions disponibles à des fins de diffusion pendant, avant ou après le temps de résidence.

Amos, 3 novembre 2011 - L’Association des centres d’exposition de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue (ACEAT) lance son appel conjoint de propositions d’expositions s’adressant aux artistes professionnels en arts visuels, commissaires et institutions.

Depuis 1980, l’ACEAT constitue un réseau de diffusion professionnel qui regroupe cinq centres d’exposition distincts de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue reconnus par le MCCCFQ; le Centre d’art Rotary de La Sarre, le Centre d’exposition d’Amos, le Centre d’exposition de Val-d’Or, le Centre d’exposition de Rouyn-Noranda ainsi que la Salle Augustin-Chénier de Ville-Marie.

Un seul dossier déposé est nécessaire alors que l’ACEAT s’assure de faire le suivi auprès de chacun des centres. La date limite est le 31 janvier 2012 (cachet de la poste faisant foi). Aucun dossier ne sera accepté par courriel, tout comme aucun dossier ne sera retourné.

ARTVO se concentre sur la promotion de jeunes artistes. RÉSIDENCES DE RECHERCHE & DE CRÉATION, APPEL à CANDIDATURE 2012

Horizome est une association strasbourgeoise qui fédère des artistes, des anthropologues et des architectes – urbanistes sur des projets communs autour de l’observation des sociétés. Selon la démarche, la transdisciplinarité (art et recherche anthropologique et urbaine) permet de renouer un contact entre la connaissance et le vécu. Horizome s’installe dans le quartier de Hautepierre en 2009.

Après plus de quarante ans depuis sa construction, Hautepierre va connaître son premier renouvellement urbain. À cette occasion, l’association Horizome estime important de travailler sur la question de la mémoire d’un quartier populaire, de révéler sa complexité pour mettre en valeur ses richesses et son potentiel humain, social et culturel et contribuer ainsi à sa déstigmatisation.
Cette posture transdisciplinaire mêle trois champs spécifiques à travers des réponses plurielles : la société, l’espace et l’imaginaire y sont croisés dans des recherches, des interventions et des créations originales.

Plusieurs résidences ont été réalisées en 2009 et 2010 : Marguerite Bobey, Grégoire Zabé, Hélène Bootz, Edwina Hoël, Sebastien Perruche, Alison Daumain, Freddy Tsimba… En lien avec les créateurs et les artistes du quartier, ces résidences ont permis la création de vidéos, d’un site en 3D, des performances dans l’espace public, de travaux en sérigraphie, de sculpture… Les productions sont exposées chaque année au Théâtre de Hautepierre.

CRITÈRES DE SÉLECTION

L’association Horizome invite des artistes à postuler pour des résidences.

Pré - requis : Démarche pertinente et contextualisée, transversalité avec d’autres disciplines, motivation.

Les candidats sont sélectionnés sur dossier. Aucune thématique ou médium n’est imposé. Les candidats sont tout de même invités à formuler leur projet en motivant l’intérêt d’une résidence dans le quartier de Hautepierre. Les projets impliquant un travail en relation avec ce territoire et ses problématiques ainsi que les projets collaboratifs et transdisciplinaires (entre candidats de même discipline ou de disciplines différentes) sont encouragés. Selon les cas, une diffusion du travail réalisé peut-être envisagée avec des structures partenaires à l’issue de la résidence.
Les candidats sélectionnés seront amenés à rencontrer la population locale dans le cadre d’actions de sensibilisation.

MODALITÉS DU PROGRAMME DE RÉSIDENCE

La durée moyenne effective de la résidence est de 2 mois. Dates à définir en fonction du projet du candidat et du planning de l’association.

Pour mener à bien son projet, le candidat reçevra une allocation de résidence d’un montant de 1000 euros/mois. L’association pourra prévoir un budget de production d’un plafond maximum de 1000 euros/mois. Ce dernier n’est alloué que dans le cas d’une production réalisée dans le cadre de la résidence, ou en lien avec celle-ci.

Le résident mènera un travail de recherche et création dans un espace qui lui sera dédié par l’association Horizome. Il peut également y résider, une chambre est mise à sa disposition. Il construira des relations singulières et directes avec les habitants et les associations du quartier.

Le résident ouvrira son atelier : la présentation des œuvres ou du travail de recherche transdisciplinaire représentera un temps fort de cette résidence.

Pour être recevables, les candidats devront fournir un dossier par courrier comprenant :
- un argumentaire présentant les motivations, incluant le projet qu’on souhaite développer dans le cadre de la résidence
- un curriculum vitae
- un dossier présentant le travail déjà mené (des éléments visuels imprimés sur format A4 maximum, éventuellement des éléments sonores ou audiovisuels, des projets différents, des éléments écrits : biographie, catalogues, extraits de presse, articles publiés, livres…).

Pour la 10ème édition de «La Route du Blé en Beauce», l’association ERYA s’inscrit dans le programme de promotion culturelle et artistique du territoire avec la création d’une manifestation d’art contemporain, en partenariat avec le Pays Loire Beauce.
Pour la promotion du territoire et le choix des artistes participant à la biennale, ERYA lance un appel à candidatures auprès d’artistes résidant sur l’ensemble du territoire national.

Artists may submit as many submissions as they wish. There is a $20 charge for each set of 3 submissions.
Not all submissions may be accepted into the book or show.

All work must be submitted in digital format for review.
Photographs of work must be professional quality to have the work reviewed.
Digital submissions should be less than 600 KB, in .jpg format for review.
Once accepted, work will be required to be resent for inclusion in the book at 300dpi, print quality.
Literary work should be submitted as a .doc file format for review.
Accepted literary work should be presented for the auction in a format that allows viewing as hung work.

Entry fee for each set of three works is US$20.
All fees are non-refundable.

All work must be ready for hanging with wire attachments. Frames are not required.
Shipped work must arrive at Red Door Space by February 17, 2012. SHIPPED WORK MUST INCLUDE PRE-PAID RETURN POSTAGE AND SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS. Shipped work without return postage will not be displayed.
Hand delivery dates are yet to be determined and will be sent to all accepted artists.

Hand delivered work must be picked up a the gallery. The date and times are TBD.

There is a difference between erotica and pornography in my mind. Stimulating the brain into an state of arousal is natural and healthy, and is done with both erotica and pornography. Pornography treats that arousal with less respect than erotica. Both are likely to be represented in this show.

As a promoter of emerging artists, I strongly encourage that artists get used to explaining their work. Art that challenges is a high goal, and it presupposes that the artists has spent time thinking about what they want to say before applying their craft. It is the difference between a draftsman and an artist. Outlaw Artisan seeks to promote the latter.

Le XXVIIIe Salon René Clement-Bayer aura lieu du 10 au 18 mars 2012 à la Grange aux Dîmes de Samoreau (77).
Créé en 1982 par le peintre René Clement-Bayer (1930 – 1999), ce salon d’arts plastiques tend à rassembler artistes connus et méconnus, jeunes et confirmés, « locaux » et internationaux.
En 2011, le Salon René Clement-Bayer, rythmé par concerts, projections et représentations théâtrales, a une fois de plus su séduire les visiteurs, tout comme les artistes, dans le cadre exceptionnel de la Grange aux dîmes, bâtiment classé du 13e siècle, à 10 minutes de Fontainebleau.

Message from Director,

Black Water Art is an exciting exhibition that creates sale opportunities for the Gallery's membership. We will be hanging the show salon style and listing images and prices on our website. All sales go directly to the artist and the gallery benefits from an increase in membership.

There are additional benefits to membership at the White Water Gallery. We are planning several webinars and online artist talks in 2012 that will be available to members at a reduced or waived fee, and we also produce a monthly newsletter that includes a section where members can post information about upcoming events or exhibitions that is received by more than 1500 artists, administrators and university professors across the country.

Anyone can become a member of the White Water Gallery as long as they pay their membership fee yearly and proactively support contemporary art. Members do not have to be contemporary artists, but must recognize that our mandate is to support artistic practices that prioritize risk and innovation and to understand the need to advance the public's threshold for viewing contemporary art.

Black Water Art is a non-juried exhibition that will allow for a wide range of artistic practices and skill levels to be presented at the same time. This will create an abundance of dialogues surrounding methodologies both practical and conceptual. As Black Water Art is an outreach program, we believe that it will promote accessibility and shared knowledge to increase the public's knowledge of contemporary art, as well as create an interesting dynamic for an exhibition. Guidelines for Submissions

Submissions are easy, but please read all guidelines before submitting. Here's what you will need to submit:

Up to 10 digital images of your work (if you would prefer to submit fewer, that's fine too):

Resolution: low (72 dpi)
Format: .jpg, .gif or .png only. Please be aware that your files will be viewed by the jurors on the web, and if you submit files in .tif, .psd or other non-web-viewable formats, they will not be visible and you will be disqualified.
Size: 700 pixels on the longest side, and a file size NO larger than 500 kb.
The caption/title, medium and dimensions for each image you intend to submit, including English translations if the captions are not in English. These do not need to be directly attached to the image file in any way -- the image upload form provides fields for filling this information in.
Please choose the images that you submit from a concise body of work which you feel best represents the style you work within.

An artist's statement regarding your work.
A brief one-paragraph bio suitable for use in a book or exhibition catalogue.
A complete CV (curriculum vitae) focussing on your artistic career.
Your complete contact information, including address, phone number, e-mail, web address if any, etc.

Situé dans l’édifice La Filature - une ancienne filature industrielle magnifiquement rénovée - le Centre de production DAÏMÕN est un centre d’artistes autogéré qui a pour mission de soutenir la recherche-création, la production et la diffusion des arts médiatiques et plus particulièrement de la vidéo, de l’audio et de la photographie.

Par ses programmes Artiste résident, Recherche et création, Photographie et impression numérique et Soutien aux premières œuvres, DAÏMÕN encourage les artistes à repousser les limites de leur pratique et à développer de nouvelles approches par le biais de l’image, de la vidéo, ainsi que des arts sonores et électroniques, y compris les pratiques installatives, interactives et performatives. DAÏMÕN privilégie les projets qui font valoir le jeu de plus en plus complexe des médias entre eux et qui interrogent les zones intermédiaires et non seulement les langages constitués des médias utilisés. Seuls les projets comportant un certain degré de recherche sont considérés.

Avec son STUDIÕ, espace de production et de diffusion, DAÏMÕN favorise la mise en espace et la mise à l’essai d’œuvres d’envergure, ainsi que le développement des pratiques transversales. Des rencontres publiques y sont organisées régulièrement afin de permettre à la communauté de s’initier au travail des artistes accueillis en résidence. Ce STUDIÕ multifonctionnel est offert aux artistes pour l’expérimentation, la production et la présentation d’œuvres dont les composantes requièrent une infrastructure technique particulière.

DAÏMÕN met à la disposition des artistes des équipements de tournage et d’enregistrement, et des salles de montage audio et vidéo numérique. Une chambre noire permet des développements argentiques de grand format (1m32) à partir de négatifs pouvant aller jusqu’à 280 mm. Un service d’impression numérique (EPSON Stylus 9600 Pro) est également disponible.

Il s’adresse aux artistes en mi-carrière et établis ou qui ont cumulé plus de cinq (5) années de pratique dans un champ de recherche spécifique en arts médiatiques. Les artistes du Québec, du Canada et de l’étranger sont admissibles à ce programme.

DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation de chacun des projets, un encadrement technique et artistique, un séjour de 4 à 6 semaines incluant l’hébergement, l'accès aux équipements du Centre et les services d’un technicien (60 heures). Un cachet de 1 500 $ est versé à l’artiste. Certaines indemnités de déplacement ainsi que des indemnités quotidiennes sont également payées par DAÏMÕN. Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes. Au terme de la résidence, DAÏMÕN organise une soirée-rencontre avec le public où l’artiste présente son travail antérieur et actuel.
Recherche et création
Ce programme est offert aux artistes professionnels de la relève, en mi-carrière ou établis qui ont une pratique en arts médiatiques. DAÏMÕN sélectionne six artistes par année, dont trois parmi les candidats de la région Ottawa-Gatineau et trois parmi les candidats en provenance du Québec et du Canada.

DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation de chacun des projets, un encadrement technique et artistique, l'accès aux équipements du Centre pendant une durée de quatre (4) semaines et les services d’un technicien (50 heures). Certaines indemnités de déplacement ainsi que des indemnités quotidiennes sont également payées par DAÏMÕN pour les artistes de l’extérieur de la région. Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes.
Photographie et impression numérique
Ce programme vise à mieux soutenir la création sur support papier en chambre noire et en impression numérique. Seuls les projets de recherche-création en photographie sont acceptés dans ce programme. Le programme est offert aux artistes professionnels de la relève, en mi-carrière ou établis et accueille des candidats de la région Ottawa-Gatineau, du Québec et du Canada.

DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation de chacun des projets, un encadrement technique et artistique; l'accès aux équipements du Centre pour la réalisation des projets pendant une durée de trois (3) semaines et les services d’un technicien (15 heures). Certaines indemnités de déplacement ainsi que des indemnités quotidiennes sont également payées par DAÏMÕN pour les artistes de l’extérieur de la région. Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes. En photographie traditionnelle, les artistes doivent fournir leurs produits de développement et leurs papiers photographiques.
Soutien aux premières œuvres
DAÏMÕN maintient par ce programme son soutien à la réalisation d’une première œuvre en arts médiatiques pour trois artistes de la région Ottawa-Gatineau. Les projets admissibles comportent la production d’une œuvre originale utilisant la vidéo, l’art audio, la photographie ou le croisement de divers médias.

Sont admissibles à ce programme, les artistes en début de carrière de la région Ottawa-Gatineau ayant une formation de base et voulant créer dans un contexte professionnel une première œuvre dans les champs de la photographie et des arts médiatiques. Les candidats étudiants ne sont pas admissibles. Les artistes professionnels de la région Ottawa-Gatineau ayant déjà une pratique artistique dans une autre discipline (peinture, sculpture, photographie, installation, etc.) et voulant développer une production en vidéo et/ou en nouveaux médias sont également admissibles.

DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation des projets un encadrement technique et artistique, l'accès aux équipements pendant une durée de trois (3) semaines et les services d’un technicien (30 heures). Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes.

PRÉSENTATION DES DOSSIERS

Les artistes intéressés sont invités à prendre connaissance des conditions des programmes de création et à faire parvenir un dossier comprenant:
- une indication claire du choix du programme;
- un résumé du projet (5 lignes);
- un énoncé de la démarche artistique (1/2 page maximum);
- une description du projet (1 page maximum);
- une description des besoins techniques (1/2 page maximum);
- un échéancier de production (1/2 page maximum);
- un curriculum vitæ (3 pages maximum);
- une documentation d’appui * accompagnée d’une liste descriptive;
- une enveloppe affranchie pour le retour du dossier (joindre des bons postaux en devise canadienne pour tout retour à l’international)

* La documentation d’appui doit faire état de la production artistique et non seulement du projet à réaliser. La documentation d’appui doit inclure :
- un maximum de 20 images (fichiers numériques jpgs compatibles avec MAC, d'une résolution de 72 dpi et ayant un maximum de 1 MB et 1024x768 pixels)
et/ou
- un CD, un DVD (max. 10 min) - fichier vidéo (.mov) et ficher audio (.aiff ou .wav préférablement 16 ou 24 bits)

Located in the La Filature building - a magnificently renovated former industrial textile mill - DAÏMÔN is an artist-run centre with the mandate of supporting research-creation, production and dissemination of media arts, with an emphasis on video, audio and photography.

By way of its programs Artist Residency, Research and Creation, Photography and digital printing and Support for First Works, DAÏMÕN encourages artists to push the limits of their practice and to develop new approaches to image, video, sound and electronic art, including installation, interactive and performative practices. DAÏMÕN privileges projects emphasising the increasingly complex interrelations between media and those that push the limits of intermedia rather than simply addressing the vocabulary of the chosen media. Only projects involving a degree of research will be considered.

With its STUDIÕ, production and exhibition spaces, DAÏMÕN encourages the installation of, and experimentation with, works of significant scale as well as the development of hybrid practices. Public and informal meetings are regularly organized in order to allow the local community to interact with the work of artists-in-residence. This multipurpose STUDIÕ is available to artists for the experimentation, production and presentation of work requiring a specific technical infrastructure.

DAÏMÕN provides artists with access to image and sound recording equipment and digital audio and video editing suites. A darkroom enables large scale (1m 32) silver emulsion development from negatives of up to 280 mm. A digital printing service (EPSON Stylus 9600 Pro) is also available.

Artist Residency
Offered to professional artists outside the Ottawa-Gatineau region, this program aims to promote fruitful exchange between artists from here and elsewhere. Established, mid-career artists with at least five (5) years of active and significant practice in a specific field of research in media arts are invited to apply. Artist from Québec, Canada and abroad are eligible for this program.

For each of the projects the Centre provides a residency of 4 to 6 weeks including accommodation, access to the Centre’s equipment, and the services of a technician (60 hours). An artist’s fee of $1500 is provided. DAÏMÕN is also able to provide travel allowance and cover limited daily expenses. All other production costs are the responsibility of the artist. DAÏMÕN organises a public evening artist’s talk, in which the artist presents their past and present work.

This program is open to professional emerging, mid-career or established artists with an active practice in media arts. DAÏMÕN selects six artists annually, three (3) from the Ottawa-Gatineau region and three (3) from Québec and Canada.

DAÏMÕN provides each artist with technical and artistic support, access to the Centre’s equipment for four (4) weeks and the services of a technician (50 hours). DAÏMÕN is also able to provide travel allowance and cover limited daily expenses for artists from outside the region. All other production costs are the responsibility of the artist.
Photography and Digital Imaging
This program aims to improve the support offered to artists working on paper using darkroom or digital imaging techniques. Only research-creation project in photography are eligible. This program is open to professional emerging, mid-career and established artists from the Ottawa-Gatineau region, Québec and Canada.

DAÏMÕN provides each artist with technical and artistic support, access to the Centre’s equipment for three (3) weeks and the services of a technician (15 hours). DAÏMÕN is also able to provide travel allowance and cover limited daily expenses for artists from outside the region. All other production costs are the responsibility of the artist. Artists using darkroom facilities must provide their own development chemicals and photographic paper.
Support for First Works
DAÏMÕN continues its support for the production of a first work for three (3) artists from the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Admissible projects include the production of an original work using video, audio, photography or the application of hybrid media in an artwork.

Emerging artists from the Ottawa-Gatineau region with basic training are invited to apply to create a first work in a professional context. Students are ineligible. Professional artists from the Ottawa-Gatineau region with an established practice in another discipline (painting, sculpture, photography, installation, etc.) who wish to develop a production in video or new media are also encouraged to apply.

HOW TO APPLY

Artists are encouraged to consult the specific conditions of the program that interests them. All applications should clearly indicate which program you are applying for and include :
- summary of project (5 lines);
- artist’s statement (max 1/2 page);
- clear and concise project description (max 1 page);
- specificationsof technical needs (max ½ page);
- timeline (max 1/2 page);
- resume (max 3 pages);
- supporting documentation* with descriptive list;
- self-addressed, pre-paid envelope for return of material if desired ( for international returns, please include sufficient postage in canadian funds).

*The support materiel must reference one's artistic practice and not be limited to the proposed project. Supporting documentation may include:
- a maximum of 20 images (digital documents in JPG format compatible with MAC with a resolution of 72 dpi and having a maximum of 1 MB and 1024 X 768 pixels);
and/or:
- 1 CD or 1 DVD (max 10 min.) - video (.mov) - audio (.aiff or .wav) 16 or 24 bits;

We also accept:
- 1 URL address
- 1 publication
- press materials

Proposals can be submitted in French OR in English.
If either of these dates falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.
Your completed application and all support material must be postmarked on or before the deadline date.
DAÏMÕN will not accept applications postmarked after the deadline, incomplete applications, or those submitted by fax or email.

In order to have access to the Centre's services, artists whose projects are chosen must become active members at a cost of $75.

For the past 17 years, Voies Off has offered an alternative approach to emerging contemporary photography, its particularities, its evolutions, and its areas of resistance.

Voies Off night projections during the opening week of the Rencontres d’Arles festival (first full week in July) have become an international reference for the discovery of emerging authors and the alternative venue that it creates for international photographic creation.

Year after year, the selected themes have met the evolutions of our contemporary world with a critical eye. Over twenty different nationalities are represented at each festival. Every year over sixty candidates are selected for the programme of the night-projections.

Every July, the Voies Off prize is awarded by a jury of renowned professionals to an artist for the clarity of his/her vision and the high quality of his/her work. The current amount of the prize is 2,500 euros.

Image requirements: Grayscale or RGB mode, 72dpi resolution, 1024 pixels longest side, JPEG format saved at maximum quality, no border, embedded marks or logos.
